free hangers
Date: 2007-10-31, 9:12PM EDT
I have a whole bunch of plastic hangers that I don't have room for. Some are blue, some are white. Free, must be able to pick up tomorrow evening in Brooklyn Heights. Please e-mail if interested.

OFFER FOOD SCRAPS
Date: 2007-10-31, 8:50PM EDT
I know it's kind of a weird thing to be offering. However I thought I would be doing a lot more composting as well as have a worm farm at this point, but it's just not happening for me yet. So I have a grocery store bag full of frozen food scraps, bones and used paper towels that are white, used for wiping hands and food, no chemicals. If you compost or have a wormfarm, this would be perfect for you. NOTE: this is food scraps for composting and worm farms only, not for eating. Please let me know, I can keep doing this for you, as I promised myself I was going to cut down the amount of garbage I put in landfills, this is just one way I've been keeping that promise. Thanks Donna

Gay dog walker wanted (Chelsea)
Date: 2007-10-30, 12:23PM EDT
We are looking for a gay dog walker in Chelsea that has time to walk one small, very cool and very cute dog. He is a great 5 year old Patterdale Terrier (looks like a puppy Chocolate Lab). He weighs 18lbs, loves to play and loves people. Actually, he really only loves gay people. We can't explain it but he generally does not like straight people, does not like facial hair, does not like people wearing baseball caps and does not like fat people.

Screwed by the City.

yet again.

NYC : 500

Me: -5

this elaboration is for you...

I will be home until I don't know when. Then back here eventually to start ALL OVER AGAIN once I build up the strength and stamina to do so. I might even try to work at my old part time job this weekend so I can try to make some freaking money. My savings has been devastatingly drained these past months.

The sad truth: After dedicating myself for 32 hours a week for the past two and a half months, promises were made and broken, and I yet again, have no job. I am so hurt, really pissed off, and completely confused. The job that I was promised and was mine, is no longer.

I can't just quit, so I guess I have to keep trying. (just when I finally thought things were figured out) My luck is unfortunate.

You "Are" Where You Live

In NYC, your neighborhood, says a lot about you. Or well, traps you into a stereotype based on where you choose (or can afford) to pay rent.

Midtown ...you work at a bank and have a lot of money (or live in a closet and are struggling to pay rent)
Upper West Side ...you're highly liberal, possibly Jewish, and have a family. You might have gone to Columbia.
Harlem... means you have street cred.
Upper East Side...you wear Gucci, shop on 5th Ave and Madison and probably have a small cutesy dog (and a dog walker).
The Village... you're so hip, you might be artist, or just pretend to be artsy
Chelsea/ Meat Packing... its ok if you're gay
Williamsburg, Brooklyn... you're a hipster and your boyfriend wears girls pants. Or maybe you just like hipster watching.
Prospect Heights, Brooklyn... you push a stroller and are such the liberal parents

give me more.

How to tell if the guy you're talking to in the park is schizophrenic:

It started with him having a conversation in an invented language with a person who wasn't there, moved on to my "ballet shoes" and how the sun is the best source of Vitamin D- especially while drinking milk at the same time.

Signs and Symptoms of Schizophrenia:
Unusual emotional reactions - check
Deterioration in personal hygiene - check
Unusual sensitivity - check
Social isolation - check
Hyperactivity or inactivity - check
Inability to concentrate - check
Delusions - check
Hallucinations- check
Grossly disorganized behavior- check
Disrupted thoughts and behavior- check

It ended with him showing me his handwritten (scratched) version of the bible- including the phrase "aforementioned 'NAPPY HAIR' from my ancestors", mumbling rants I couldn't really understand, talks about how God has an "invisible grip" on the world, and then how he predicted JFK would be shot.

Flowered Taxis

Out of nowhere taxis began popping up with flowered sticker decals on their hoods. I thought it was for some event, but they've been on there for a couple weeks now, and they're in every neighborhood. I just figured out why.

"Garden in Transit may be the most ambitious community collaboration and public art project in New York City history. As part of this groundbreaking motivational art, education, and creative therapy project, thousands of kids in schools, hospitals, and community institutions are painting vibrant flowers -- symbolizing joy, life, beauty, and inspiration -- on adhesive weatherproof panels that will be applied to the hoods, trunks and/or roofs of thousands of New York City taxis. Beginning in September 2007 and until year's end, New York City will be visually transformed, as the ubiquitous yellow icon becomes a mobile artistic canvas or -- "Garden in Transit." "
